At Triumph & Disaster, we say that it’s good to sweat.

Sweat is one of the signs of a normal, healthy functioning system. Our ethos is to work with the body’s natural flow by working with it to limit excess moisture and control the aromas created through the excretion of sweat. It’s this control of aroma that we are most interested in. With our deodorant ‘Spice’ our goal is to limit body odour by impairing the bacteria that produce it, dousing them with hypnotic, fragrant notes to create an intoxicating mix of exotic moolah.

Our fragrance is a bespoke heady mix of Frankincense, Bay Leaf and Clove that collide to calm perspiration and neutralise odour. Spice - Deodorant’s ingredients are natural and organic. Its fragrance is exotic but light, evoking a sense of a wild night under the moon that we might have once had when nobody was looking. New Zealand Manuka, Aloe Vera and Kawakawa combine with organic Lavender and the natural benefits of Sodium Bicarbonate to calm perspiration and neutralise our body’s odour. This 175ml tube of Restoration Balm is a reinvention, an evolution of an earlier idea. Like the cassette was to vinyl, the CD to the cassette, Spotify to the CD, evolution, has a tendency to move things along. In this case we went for improved usability, better delivery, and a little aesthetic panache, makes us wonder why we did not do it before.

As a kid growing up my job was to clean the wool shed floors so the shearer's had a tidy workplace when they started each morning, cleanliness is next to godliness and all that.

I have two outstanding recollections of that time, the first is learning to roll a cigarette, the other is the smell of the soap the shearing gangs used to scrub with before heading to 'smoko'.

Like all good memories the facts have no doubt been embellished with time, but when making this body soap it was that smell we wanted and perhaps more importantly the association with a hard day's work, that it evoked.

'Shearer's Soap' is made from a translucent base high in glycerin that makes it incredibly gentle on your skin. Poppy seeds assist exfoliation and provide a massaging effect that works in combination with our bespoke natural fragrance to create a complete cleansing experience.

Despite our best efforts we are forced to acknowledge that in today’s world time is scarce and speed often the order of the moment, so we get what we have right here, which is YLF.

Built the way we want it, which is the way you will have it - rich in Argan oil, Green tea, Vitamin E and Kawakawa extract. YLF is a genuine ‘head, shoulders, knees and toes', that delivers a pleasant, slightly medicinal, Sandalwood and Neroli infused hit on the nose. It is a wash for those with too little time and too much to get done.

When we designed YLF we asked ourselves what should the perfect wash actually do, the answer, four things;

1/ The perfect all-rounder – YLF is T&D’s head, shoulders, knees and toes. Meaning it can do it all, wash the body, clean the hair and even lather for a shave.

2/ Hydrate the skin; we utilise the smoothing and hydrating effects of Argan oil and plant-based surfactants.

3/ It should smell great – but not be too strong or overpowering, because you are in the shower, not a car wash. The sweet combination of Neroli and Sandalwood delivers on this herbal, woody promise.

4/ It should be nutrient-rich – nothing ensures this more than the combination of Argan oil, Kawakawa and Green tea leaf extract.

Mama always said keep your head clear, your heart true and your hands clean. We are trying Mama, we are trying. So we created Little Helper to have your back, or at least your hands, covered. Infused with Blue Cypress, Almond and Rosehip to keep palms and fingers, soft and clean. One for Mama.

When developing ‘little helper’ we made it with honest, hard working, hands in mind. Our aim, to deliver a bright fresh clean hit and to bring a little joy to an everyday thing. Little Helper comes in a 500ml PET Bottle, contains no sulphates SLS/SLES, utilises 100% natural surfactants and draws on the known benefits of Blue Cypress, Rosehip and Sweet Almond. ‘Little Helper’ will wash without drying out skin, leaving hands soft, fresh and most importantly clean.

1/ Natural – Little Helper Hand Wash is free from sulphates and nasty synthetic chemicals found in many handwash products. We work with nature to be as effective but also as gentle as possible on both skin and the environment.

Humans are designed to sweat, armpits in particular have evolved as a key component in our bodies heat management and toxin excretion systems – mess with these at your peril. Sending toxins away from armpits back into the body only creates stress elsewhere by asking other parts of our natural excretion and perspiration systems to do more than what they are designed to do.
